Racine Kreyol Cultural Arts
Afro-Haitian Drum and Dance ~ Albuquerque, New Mexico
Our loyal students of Haitian dance thought you might like to know....
I have been dancing Haitian since [I was] thirteen years of age. There is no ethnic dance study more spiritually aligned with dance itself. The movements challenge our bodies to learn the tiny attachment muscles in the spine and pelvis that keep us young and strong in our core. The drummers are beautiful spirits that make the relationship between the drums and the dancers complete. We are blessed to have this cultural experience in Albuquerque.

Afro-Haitian dance with Racine Kreyol is so much more than a class; it is a supportive community that unites us in holistic health and wellbeing as we keep Haiti’s rich cultural arts legacy alive through traditional drumming and dance. Afro-Haitian dance keeps my spirits and my energy high! The kinesthetic experience of moving in time to a powerful chorus of live drums is transportive. Shirley and Nadine’s unique instructional styles are intense, challenging, entertaining and sensual. The yogic cool down is perfect closure to the rigorous workout!

After every class I am filled with positive and pure energy that uplifts me to another level - physically, mentally and spiritually. The traditional music from Haiti is not only fun and rich, but filled with passion and genuine love for the rhythms and the culture.

Since I joined this [Haitian] dance class, I’ve had less migraine [headaches]. It helps release the tension in my neck and shoulders. It’s very therapeutic.
